Wow that is a long bike race! Great shot, love the bokeh in this! That looks to me like something I would never want to sit on, but I guess if you did that race and still had no problems, I'll take your word for it! :)
After some time, a leather saddle adjusts to your unique distribution of weight. With a gel filled saddle, the gel will eventually (after an hour or so) apply a much to high pressure of your soft tissue (as the bones will push the gel sideways). If you want to bike for long, you must use a hard saddle.
