If you've ever seen the third Pirates of the Caribbean you'll hear about a "green flash." It's nothing like in the movie. I recently saw the green flash for the first time and fortunately I had my telescope with me. The green flash is that little green blip above the sun. It doesn't always appear and usually lasts less than a second, but it's really cool when you do actually see it.

We got a new kitten. Or rather, he got us. Jack, as we've dubbed him, wandered onto the farm and decided to stay. He could probably supply power to half the city with his very smelly methane emissions and his infinite supply of kinetic energy. This is one of the few times he wasn't running around in circles attacking inanimate objects.

These ants have invaded my apartment, and It's a species I'm not familiar with. After some quick research I believe it's Linepithema humile, the Argentine ant.
They smell when you smash 'em.
