This is a great series of pictures featuring Wren, (of Gods Girls), I did a few years ago. There is one thing I must say before I speak out the shoot. Wren had the biggest closet full of cloths I've ever seen in my life!
There are so many things 'wrong' about the pictures in this set. The perspectives, the lighting, etc. I believe art is about challenging yourself to try and reach down into the unknown. There was no set up for these shot. Just moving to one place and start snapping away. The shot raw and flawed. And that risk paid off, (as most risks do), because this is now one of the most popular series.

This series of pictures was shot during the Summer of 2006. During that Summer I was going a little nuts with the amount of shoots I was doing. I think I did 18 shoots that Summer.
I'd never shot at Mooney's Bay before. I'd always wanted to but just never found the right person to work with. I'd also been looking forward to shooting with Tania for what seemed like years! So now with the perfect location and the perfect model I was set!
I'm always blessed with the best weather when I shoot. I can't even shoot in the rain if I planned it! This day with Tania is no different. And of course having a great looking woman helps!

One of my favorite past times is to wonder around with my camera and just shoot and shoot and shoot. So while on the set of a recent movie, (a horror movie called, "Hidden Darkness"), I was treated to some unexplored landscapes. During our lunch break I set off to shoot. Because of the location, out deep in farm land, all I thought I was going to be able to shoot was the sky, the grass, rocks, etc. Then I come around this old shed and find this very full, but hardly ever used swimming pool. The water was so eerily calm, and the reflection was so, er, nightmarish. The whole scene just fit right in with the theme of the movie.

Anything and everything I could get my hands on. Don't get me wrong, I'm fascinated with those ultra close porno bug and plants kind of macros. I'm just not seeing anything with heart, with a sense of personal style. These objects here range from my child hood all the way up to only just years ago. Things that have shoot on my shelves, been stored in my closets, taken out and rediscovered. Shot over the period of one month.

In 2003 I created a small ad campaign for Desi Wear Clothing. So small in fact that the advert was pushing one single shirt. This was Desi Wear's hottest T-shirt, (at that time). So getting this just right was important. My idea was to go the spontaneous route. So I show up at Michea's apt with my camera and the T-shirt only. Going this way I think I got the best out of Michea and I. With no prep I was able to capture a certain raw quality street fashion has. Can you guess which picture from this series was chosen as the advert they ran with?

The concept for this shoot was this: Over three days shoot three very different models in three different locations. Each model was put in a place defined by my impression of their personality. Each model was given a prop for them to use or to be shot against, and yes the prop is also chosen based on the model’s personality.
So over three days, Fri, Sat, Sun, each model is shot during sunset.
While on set I was struck with very specific names for each shoot. Deep, Down, and High. (The series later became known as DDH).
The “Deep” shoot is the third shoot. This was shot in a hotel swimming pool, so there where hotel guest all over the place, which was fun to shoot around. This was the first time for me shooting a model, (Michea), actually IN water. So I really wanted to play with light, how it was used, how it reflected of the water, etc.
For this specific picture, well, when Michea was there ‘lounging’ on the ledge of the deep end I just HAD to grab this shot.

Everyone know I try to relay the stories, ideas, and technical details that go into my shoots. This shoot has one tiny little theme. So obvious. So Cute.
The model, Michea Crawford. The theme? Give her an outfit made of Paper Mache.
So off to my studio we went. Bucket of water flower and newspapaer in hand. Very hard to take fashion seriously when doing such shoots. So fun it was. Art these became.

Little did they know by the end of the day they where to become the gruesome victims of the elusive Shawville strangler!

This shoot holds a record in my books. From the moment Natalya called me, introduced herself, to her being in my shower? Three days!
This is shoot was inspired by a scene in the movie "Paranoid Park". Once I got the shot I wanted we just had fun.
